University of Palermo is an old house of studies founded in 1806 on the foundations of an old school of medicine and law of the 15th century.

Today, the 12 old faculties that were used in the 19th century are still open. 

Among the faculties are: Agriculture, Architecture, Arts, Economics, Education, Engineering, Law, Mathematics, Medicine, Science, Pharmacy and Politics. 

Near the school, there is the Botanical Garden of Palermo, a place that is open to touristic visits and students of the University.
